Dry Needling

Unlock tight muscles with precision needle therapy. At The Resilience Lab in Louisville, dry needling targets muscle knots to release tension, improve movement, and help you feel looser faster.

How Dry Needling Works

Trigger points form when muscle fibers get locked in a contracted state, causing pain both locally and in other areas like shoulder tension referring pain to your head.

We use very thin, sterile filament needles inserted directly into these points. The needle creates a small twitch response in the muscle, which releases the contraction, improves blood flow, and allows the muscle to relax and lengthen properly.

Why It’s Effective

This technique works because it directly interrupts the muscle’s pain cycle at the source. Unlike general stretching or massage, dry needling addresses the specific dysfunctional tissue, leading to faster and more complete relief.

Common Applications

We use dry needling for:

  • Neck and shoulder tension including tension headaches

  • Upper and mid-back tightness

  • Hip and gluteal pain

  • Sciatica-like symptoms from muscle referral

  • Overuse injuries in athletes

The Patient Experience

Insertion feels like a small pinch. When the trigger point is reached, most patients feel a brief twitch or deep ache followed by immediate relaxation in that muscle. Sessions are quick and focused.

How It Complements Other Care

Dry needling pairs naturally with chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue work, Released muscles move better, making joint work more effective and helping you maintain gains longer.
